What Are Commercial VRV & VRF Air Conditioning Systems?
VRF air conditioning systems are typically used to custom design larger buildings, such as large offices and commercial projects.
Also known as VRV air conditioners, these split systems only require a single outdoor unit which connects to up to 20 indoor units, without the need for ducts to be installed.
Each indoor unit can be individually controlled, giving you the flexibility to create a comfortable temperature simultaneously in multiple areas. It is best suited for large houses and commercial spaces.
Utilising inverter technology, VRF systems have become one of the most energy-efficient air conditioners for commercial spaces, keeping your energy costs down while providing absolute comfort all year round.
What’s the difference between VRV and VRF?
Both terms refer to the same HVAC technology, the only key difference being is that VRV (variable refrigerant volume) is a registered trademark of Daikin Industries. Therefore, all other manufacturers use the term VRF which stands for variable refrigerant flow.
How do VRF Air Conditioning Systems work?
VRF air conditioning systems are a multi split system with multiple indoor units all connected by refrigerant piping and communication wiring to a single outdoor unit which incorporates one or more compressors.
Each indoor unit can be individually controlled either using a control panel or remotely. When the system is in use, it takes into account current indoor and outdoor conditions before delivering a precise amount of refrigerant needed to achieve and maintain a desired temperature.
Benefits of a VRF Air Conditioner
- Energy efficient
- Maintains consistent comfort through continuous monitoring of conditions and adjustment of refrigerant flow
- Enjoy complete control of any room with individual climate control for each unit. Or, centrally controlled from building management systems.
- Easy installation. VRF systems typically do not require the use of ducting, which makes for an easier, quicker and cheaper installation.
- Heating and cooling can be used simultaneously in different zones (reverse cycle)
